however, the server software (nginx) logs ip addresses that interact with this site by default

i've turned this off

many websites out there use peoples information to show ads, for marketing purposes and other purposes which i do not agree with.

i can't, and no other website on the internet can really say they care about your privacy these days.

i could theoretically start putting ads on this website and logging ips of people, and nothing could be done about it

this is the main issue with many giant sites these days

a lot of websites dont care about you or your privacy, or really anything you stand for

and that really stinks
